Many folk remedies use honey to make people well. Honey is a very rich source of energy that helps keep you well. Some people say that honey even helps to keep you young. Some of the most expensive anti-ageing creams contain royal jelly. Royal jelly is the food bees make to keep the queen bee and her larvae fit and well.

Doctors have now found that some kinds of honey are very special indeed. Honey made from pollen collected from manuka trees in New Zealand is exciting the medical world. This type of honey helps protect wounds from bacterial infection. However, recent research shows that it also protects against some of the most powerful infections that cause difficulties in hospitals.

When applied to a wound, the manuka honey stops powerfully harmful bacteria from invading and infecting body tissue. More importantly, the manuka honey stops bacteria by creating a protective bubble around them. This means the honey helps clear away the most harmful bacteria safely. Most importantly, manuka honey is cheap compared to most chemically prepared medicines.
