Nowadays, we like to recycle rather than throw away things. This is a way of helping the environment. One of the best ways you can recycle is by using a microwave in new and creative ways.

Before you start, remember never to put any item with metal into the microwave!

1. You can sterilise kitchen cloths, flannels, sponges, floor wipes and hand towels in the microwave.
Save and RecycleTo do this, sprinkle a little water on the cloth or sponge. Microwave the cloth or sponge at full power for two minutes. This kills 99% of all known germs. Repeat this every two days. This will keep all your cleaning items in peak hygienic condition. But be careful! The microwave makes everything very hot. Wear kitchen gloves to take the sterilised items out.

2. Heat stale bread together with a small cup of water in a microwave for around 30 seconds and it will come out tasting fresh again.

3. Heat citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons or grapefruits in a microwave for around 20 seconds. This helps you get more juice out of them when making fresh juice drinks. However, be aware that heat destroys vitamin C.
